I had a variety of clothing altered in different fabrics: type (sport coats, suit pants, trousers, overcoat) and fabrics (wool, cotton, denim). Everything was per my specifications. The process took about six weeks , but the shop is very busy. Cost is not inexpensive, My comparison was against the value of garments that I had kept and enjoyed for several decades. After losing weight, the alternative was a new wardrobe.

Brought in a leather vest a couple years ago to attach 5 patches of various sizes, from a small blood type identifier all the way up to a large back patch. All were placed squarely and in a way that fit well on the vest when worn. The stitching has proven bombproof, with many miles of wear being added every summer. I'm hoping to make it back in soon to have a couple more patches thrown on another jacket, will always recommend.
