Great hidden gem. The shop has been around for years, and I'm glad Google maps posted it. Terry the barber who cut my hair was efficient, and had a nice banter. The interior of the shop is a bit dated, but the place was clean and fresh smelling. I'm going back there for all my haircuts.

Shep's is a gem in Highland Park! I stumbled upon them driving down Hamilton and decided to stop because of the mural on the side of the wall of Trayvon Martin. The 14 year old boy that was wrongfully murdered some years ago. Come to find out this gem has been in Highland Park since 1944!!!! I couldn't believe what I was hearing. 1944! That's a long time. While there, I spoke with Ms Dottie who is now the current owner and I can say she is one of the sweetest women I've met. She took the time to go over the history of Shep's with me. While there, I had to chance to see them at work and WOW! She does a great job on hair and her son is the master barber on duty who has definite skills himself. I look forward to being able to come back and patronize this establishment. They get 5 stars from me because of the work that I've seen them do and the fact that they have endured all this time becoming on of the oldest black owned businesses in Highland Park. If you ever are in the area, stop by, say hi, get a hair cut or your hair done. And don't forget to look at the mural! It's fabulous!

It was my first time there and will never go back. Customer service was terrible, the man with the locks that cut my hair didn't know what he was doing I would rather go to the barber school as matter of fact that is where I wanted to go in the first place but they were closed my fault but will be going soon to get my hair fixed again the school is better than Shep's... lol I'm wearing a wig until my hair get fixed and 1 star is way to much
