I'm a 72 year old male. About a year ago I had a eye exam with my Optometrist who informed me I would probably need cataract surgery at a future date. I was evaluated by an Ophthalmologist Dr. Cowden. He told me my cataracts were "large" (cloudy) and that I would need the procedure. Before the surgery date I had requested to opt out of any kind of sedation and to just do it fully awake. Being the awesome Dr. that he is he granted my request!After my eye was numbed he began the surgery. I could tell when he broke my "cloudy lens" as my vision was very blurry! I would be laying if I said I remember Ashley Fritz, OD I do not. I talk to many people and can't say there was anyone I wouldn't recommend. Everyone I talk to was very professional explaining every step of the way and answered all my questions. I would definitely recommend Grand Rapids Ophthalmology.
