If you come to Dominican Style Salon from other negative experiences, don't come to her salon to pretend that she did you wrong. When you braid your hair, you're going to start losing hair, and it will break and be damaged. Also, coloring your hair may affect the texture of your hair, which may or may not be able to tolerate the chemicals. If you are her client, you follow her instructions to allow her to maintain your hair beautiful, healthy, and grow. But if you are going to other salons to compare and criticize, what is your fault? Please don't blame her for your issues and disorientation. She has had her own permanent clients for years, and they are happy with her services and prices, but if you are going to be jumping from salon to salon, it's your problem when your hair gets damaged. So, live with your negativity that you created where you are, a real Dominican blowout, you have to do it correctly, not because the stylist uses heat and uses the flat iron, it's not that they don't do it right, it's the correct way to make sure even the edges are straight. Different hair textures require more heat than others. Some Dominican salons add and use Keratin Shampoo and Conditioner, so that is why they don't use the flat iron, but your hair will not be bouncy all the time. So please make sure to stay in the salon you always go to and don't come here to blame her for the disaster that was created by you.

Good evening, I have been coming to Dominican Style Salon for over 15 years. Martina is a completely professional woman. She only works for hair reconstruction; she doesn't use any type of chemicals in the hair. She only uses hair reconstruction products. Never had any complaints from her clients, she got clients who come from all over the states to be in her salon. She not only fixes your hair, but she also helps you maintain it and helps it grow. She doesn't do braiding at her salon; it's all natural and healthy products.

Rude, don’t know what they’re doing, damaged my hair causing breakage and heat damage, did not detangle, OVERCHARGED BECAUSE OF MY HAIR TYPE, and I had to wash my own hair, all because they don’t know how to style other hair textures except their own. ZERO stars.

Is been 25 years that I know Martina, and my hair always in and amazing condition. She maintain my blonde hair with my deep conditioner and my good blow out. I will never change her for nothing in the world. Martina is very sweet and have a good spirit. She loves constructing the bad hair ... Always remember if you have your own stylest don't come to her salon to speak negative about her work...She is professional and humbled. Martina thank you for always dedicated your time to make me beautiful.

WARNING - this is NOT a real Dominican hair salon where they know how to do hair. Harlets was closed so I decided to try this salon out.. & I really wanted this to go well however it was the Worst experience from beginning to end. I expressed my feelings to Martina after she did my hair because of how horrible it looked. I wish I would’ve spoken up sooner but I was trying to “trust the process” as I was having a hard time understanding her techniques. The entire process felt rushed and uncomfortable. It was very surprising because it was only me and one other person in the salon at the time. She barely detangled my hair or sectioned it off and made the combing and blow drying process very painful. I am the least tender headed person and even my scalp was sore after she did it! Rather than spraying the entire hair with heat protector, she does every little section which made the flat iron sizzle and smoke tremendously! The amount of spray and oil she used in my hair it does not feel soft, it feels dull, dry and flat. I have full, thick hair and it just looks and feels bad. After flat ironing my hair, she then decided to blow dry AGAIN, which is a crazy amount of heat to use on anyone! She didn’t ask how I wanted my hair styled, just where I wanted my part.. my hair looks like I did it myself (which I could’ve done a lot better job). Her only reasoning was because I had 4 braids in my hair, which I would expect any hair stylist to know how to treat/detangle hair after braids. $60 and I will NOT be returning!! Came in wearing a hat, left out wearing one.. You ask yourself would you pay $60 to look like this… DO NOT LET THESE PPL PLAY IN YOUR HAIR! Waste of time and money!

Make sure you call ahead before arriving to make sure there is someone in the shop to give you an appointment. That is the only thing I don’t like is I don’t know their true availability, but when you can get an appointment the owner is amazing and very friendly. My daughter came for a blow out and she was patient and took her time yet the experience did not take all day. Come early to be first in line to get service and we got out in an hour! The occasion was my daughter’s 10th birthday and she loved her blowout style.

This is NOT how Dominicans do the hair. I just moved to Michigan and was so happy to find a Dominican Salon even if I have to drive 35-40min to get there. I called a Monday and talked with Martina, who told me I didn’t need an appointment just have to get there early and she explained her schedule. On Wednesday I showed up with my kids at 11am to do our hairs. The first thing she told me when we got there was: I’m not working today, I’m taking care of something and I need to be there. After some minutes, she decided to work on us and started working on my son’s afro hair. I asked her to cut his ending after washing his hair, but she cut half of his hair’s length while washing it because it was easier to detangle. I mean, who does that? If you have a least a basic knowledge about haircuts you will know how to manage an Afro and obviously avoid to cut it that way. After her disaster a barber who was sharing the space with her helped us shaping his afro. Now it was my time. First the hair washing sink is old, is not ergonomic, you feel pain on your neck for the position you have to sit or get wet. Then the blow dry.... this is a nightmare. She doesn’t know how to do it properly, your hair looks frizzy, that’s why she use the flat iron and lot of oil serum after. A Dominican blow out usually left your hair nice, with volume and beautiful, you wouldn’t need a flat iron. But here she pulls your hair so hard that you get migraines and neck pain. Is what we call: “un salón de campo” when the staff doesn’t have a proper knowledge and they do whatever they learned by watching somebody else. There are more Dominican’s salon around here, in Westland go to Cris Dominican Salon.
