So, where do I start? I’m a Detroit native, born and raised, though I moved away about 15 years ago. When I come home, I usually stay in Southfield avoiding the downtown hustle. But this time, since Marriott partnered with MGM, I gave MGM Grand Detroit a shot. In all my time, I’d never stayed there before.
I booked as a Platinum Marriott member, and I always expect stellar service Marriott never lets me down. Yet, I was still wowed. I recently stayed at the MGM Grand Detroit, and it was a fantastic experience overall. One thing that stood out most was the hospitality of the housekeeping staff—especially Maria H.
I accidentally had my room set to “privacy” instead of “service,” and by the time I realized it, it was late in the day. I happened to see Maria in the hallway and asked if she might still be able to help. Even though it was near the end of her shift, she gladly cleaned my room. I told her she didn’t need to do everything since the mistake was mine and it was late, but she insisted on providing excellent service and cleaned the room thoroughly. The room was beautiful it was a suite. The only problem was the jet tub started up on its own in the middle of the night which was weird I had to get up and turn the pump off. It sounded like handles were always opening and closing like they were in our room but weren't and we were at the end of a hall. There were just strange noises throughout the night that actually woke us both up at different times. The experience overall was good but I didn't get much sleep.
