My family had the pleasure of entrusting Barksdale Funeral Home with our mother, Clarice P. Washington for her homegoing services. From beginning to end, they were simply amazing. Never have I dealt with a more professional staff in my life. Ms. Neal was so kind and patient; just a gem. She even accommodated us on the day we requested. The gentlemen who worked with her were also very professional. They were all friendly, kind to our family, patient, greeted us with a smile and did everything we asked. We chose Barksdale because it was our neighborhood funeral home when we grew up, but after experiencing them, I see now that we chose them because God knew we needed the BEST people for our mother. Barksdale funeral home has been my neighbor funeral for over 50 years. My mother just passed and I knew I couldn’t use any other funeral home. From the beginning to the end of the process, although it was very difficult losing my mother, the process was effortless because they were with me every step of the way. I thank God for Mrs. Neal and Ken because they were so accommodating… I don’t know how I would’ve delt with this process without them

They didn't rush us to make any decisions; in fact, they made beautiful & helpful suggestions. Mrs. Francine may not remember but Barksdale has handled 5 of our home goings for us, this is how much we trust and appreciate their heartfelt care & concern for our family & our departed loved ones. My mother Laura Livingston had her celebration of life service handled by Barksdale Funeral Home Sunday August 10, 2025 and I must say that Francine and Ken and their entire staff did a wonderful job. They had mom fixed up really nice and she looked beautiful. They also laid my daddy to rest in 2008. If I'm laid to rest in Detroit when close my eyes for the last time, I will be sure my daughters all know that I want my final arrangements handled by Barksdale Funeral Home. In my opinion, they did a great job and went above and beyond any of my expectations, when it came to my dear Dads arrangements. And they also offered the most for the price. I really had a good experience at a very hard time of my life. I lost my brother in April. My daughter-in-law contacted them. I was at a lost. They embraced me and helped me through it all. You could tell they really cared. I had never had to send off for insurance, plan a funeral, ask for help from Social Service before, but between Francine and Ken, they took care of it. Instead of business people, they made me feel like family. Everyone I met there seemed so caring. I don't want to need them soon, but I will be stopping in just to say hello. I was doing this along except my man and sons, but I felt like I had a whole team. THANK YOU BARKSDALE!
