He was hesitant to go to the barber because the last one he went to (not at Exposed) messed up his hair and that's a big deal for everyone but especially for a 15 yr old. “I was in search of a new place for a haircut since my old salon closed permanently - the owner sold it to new owners and retired. I saw no reason to keep driving to the location when my stylist was not still there, so I checked out salons closer to home. I tried Stronghold based on their location, vibe, and great reviews.

Additionally, I had not had a haircut in months, had been isolating during the winter, and looked like garbage. I made a long-to-short appointment (costs just $5 more than a standard haircut and provides more time for your appointment) with Alicia Whitney, and she took excellent care of me. She listened to everything I shared about my hair, made great suggestions, and took care throughout the process to make sure I was liking the results. It was clear immediately that she understood my hair and had ideas for how to help me look my best. She did spectacular work and sent me home looking much better than I have in some time. It was really nice to be cut by a fellow Millennial who had such mastery of her craft.

Parking is up Main Street from downtown Royal Oak. There is affordable street parking which is far enough from 11 mile that it usually has plenty of free spaces. If you're trying hard to save a buck, this is probably walkable from 11 mile areas like the farmer's market, but I was able to park right in front for a dollar.
