    Love the occasional live music here. Right now there's beautiful piano player making me feel like I'm in a modern Jane Austin inspired film. Perfect spot to sit and people watch or read. FYI there are some park benches and spots to sit all around the monument. Ahhh also there are so many food options on this block! Just between one city center and 28 monument square alone you'll be certain to find something scrumptious.

    Monument Square is a giant monument of a woman yielding a sword wrapped in a flag in one hand, a shield and branch of leaves in the other, and it commemorates those who fought in the Civil War. The monument reads: "Portland/To her sons who died/for the union." It was dedicated on October 28th, 1891; it became part of the National Register of Historic Places in 1998. And I think Our Lady of Victories is absolutely beautiful.
