It was fantastic the way they greeted my dog. My pup was in to get spayed, and they were wonderful with her. I felt extremely confident in her care. She will be going back for all her future vaccinations and needs.

My dog suffered from diarrhea for 14 days, starting two days after her appointment here. She had an appointment on day 2 and a follow up on day 10. We carefully monitored her for any new symptoms, and none developed. She would have been taken to an ER vet immediately if they had.

After the first day she was sick, I called, but we couldn’t be seen immediately. The receptionist suggested a bland diet and advised calling early the next day to see if there had been a cancellation. I called at wheb they opened at 7 a.m. and was able to get her seen, which I appreciated. The vet recommended a bland diet and told us to continue for 7 days to allow her time to adjust.

However, they didn’t address our concerns that her anxiety always worsens her symptoms. (We rescued her from the Humane Society. She was found extremely malnourished at a puppy mill. Now, 12 years later, she still has severe anxiety whenever she is sick, which is documented in her vet records.)

At her 10 day follow up appointment, we were told to wait a few more days because she seemed a little better. By day 14, there was still no improvement. I took her to a Portland clinic, where they prescribed anxiety medication, and within a day she improved significantly. It seemed unnecessary for her to endure two weeks of discomfort and frequent trips outside before receiving treatment that might have helped sooner, had our concerns been fully considered. I understand the cautious approach to antibiotics, they weren’t needed or requested, but her anxiety clearly required attention.

As a pet owner, we rely on the professional experience of the vet to guide our pet’s care. In this case, while I appreciate their advice, it felt like my dog’s anxiety and ongoing discomfort weren’t fully considered. This delayed effective treatment.

I should also note that the clinic has a strong, persistent odor. As if pet urine has seeped into the tile and walls. This made me question how thoroughly it’s cleaned and what else might be unsanitary. I understand accidents happen, but this seemed extreme. I haven’t been in here for a while, but the smell is undeniably noticeable.

There is only one or two vets in the area, which likely explains why routine appointments are booked 3 to 4 months in advance. They are not equipped for emergencies, so during the day, you will need to travel 1.5 hours to Portland, or 60 minutes to the ER clinic in Lewiston, which operates only at night.

I have a senior dog and have lived in many different states and been to many different vets, Norway Vet Hospital is the best I have ever been to. The staff is always incredible, prices have been very reasonable, we are lucky to have them.

I trust my dogs in their care. I live 1 hour away and chose Norway Veterinary Hospital for a second time to perform ACL surgery. The first time was with Dr Guager. I was sad to find that he since retired.
This last time (7 / 2025), I found that Emmy, my 3 year old dog, also needed to have bilateral surgery, this time being a TPLO. I reviewed 2 other offices, and on the first call, I had a really good feeling about driving the 1 hour to our 1st appointment.
Dr Sherburne explained everything clearly, and I knew Norway was the right choice again.
Surgery went well, and the staff was so nice and helpful they answered all my questions for her return home and answered more the next day when they called to check on my baby.
Recovery is going well because I was prepared on what to expect and what I need to do to help with her recovery.

Norway Veterinary Hospital was the right choice both times! Thank you, M Cote

Terrible service - avoid these gougers at all costs! Exceptional lack of professionalism - two months ago when I made an appointment for my pet the receptionist spoke very rudely to me- when as a customer of 30+ years, all I wanted was to help my animal companion. On top of that, when I showed up yesterday for the appointment the receptionist "forgot" it. Sigh. Quality of service has steadily declined at this business over the past decade+ and I urge all who genuinely care for their animal friends, to seek veterinary help elsewhere!

Since this business so badly botched the service for a prior pet, I only arranged this last visit as a final chance for NVH to redeem themselves- an occasion to which they once again FAILED to rise. Shame on you!
