Why is it so hard to find good service in Maine? I have called James Reid Heating twice in the past week to get them out to do a basic radiant heat systems check and maintenance. The second time I called, the answering service they use asked if this was an emergency. No it’s not. I just want to schedule a systems check to make sure it doesn’t become an emergency down the road. They installed the original system back in 2004 so I felt they would be the most qualified people to do it. Needless to say, I have not received a call back and I have left 2 messages. The current average score is deceiving. Mr. Reid was super! He dropped in to check on things just because he was in the area.

He installed hydroradiant heating, believe me there is a LOT of knobs and valves but he took me through every step and it turned out to be so simple. I'm due for my first annual maintenance call, this first year couldn't have gone better.

His service employee was able to show up after a major snow storm, though Reid himself had been unable to navigate previously up our driveway. His employee was a pretty decent fellow and courteous at the service call. My son in law had allowed the new furnace to run out of fuel which screwed up the nozzle , which had to be replaced . The new furnaces ( Miller)are not made as good as the old ones and not only burn more fuel but the nozzles are made to clog up at the slightest issue, requiring replacement . I got a $95 service bill for a furnace that was installed only a couple weeks prior, so any warranty is not adhered too when it comes to the nozzle . I give his employee...read full review
