Really pleased. Originally had an appointment months out (nobody else in Bangor had any earlier availability ). But they called me the next day with an cancellation and I got right in. Really pleased. Doctor and staff all lovely.

surprised to see any negatives. Been a regular patient of Dr. Allen for years. They are proficient, courteous, throrough,and have handled exams and eye situations properly. BTW, no relation to Dr. Allen.

I've had eye exams and new prescriptions from 4 different eye doctors and an ophthalmologist in Old Town, Bangor and Brewer in the last 7 years and Penobscot Eye Care is the best - by far. It had the only eye doctor that did not give me a disrespectful hard time about refusing eye dilation. Dr. Vachon's exam and diagnosis, even with my cataract, was spot-on and I can now see things I've not seen in years. Eye dilations are for medical diagnosis only and not needed just to get an updated vision prescription. In fact, the only poor eye exam prescription outcomes I've had in my entire life - 4 of them in 2 states - were the result of eye dilations and the exams had to be redone every time, even when an ophthalmologist did them - at an average additional cost of $60! Penobscot's optician, Rebecca, also did an excellent job with their selection of frames and with fitting and finish work and my new glasses were ready in half the estimated time. I would highly recommend Penobscot Eye Care to anyone.
