Update: 10/3/25 Good Afternoon more than 48 hours have passed from speaking with the owner who is just a liar, stated that she will resolve and call the next day and didn’t. As a customer that was baited and switched services and filed said complaint, The owner made no reply or response from her after I reached out, after stating that she was refunding my money and didn’t. She wanted me to come back to the shop and for what? That was not going to end well oonsidering I my employment they all may have been deported . Instead I opening a State of Maryland Attorney General complaint along with the Better Business Bureau to include a complaint with the State of Maryland Dept of Labor and Licensing Cosmetology Board for your conduct in this matter to include not remedying said complaint as you stated on the review. P.S. Don’t believe a word the owner says !!
Original Review: Good day! called before coming and ask the price of Kinky twist and was Quoted $130 starting. I go there no wait time, seated right away, I told the braider I only wanted shoulder length medium/large braids. That’s because my entire back in my hair is shaved. Bottomline after I. was done the lady charges me $200!!!! The crazy part about it as they were speaking I understood the entire conversation. She told the lady she did micro’s and she didn’t. Bottom line you just lost a customer that supported African businesses and women. To include I will never come back because of the and my hair was mediocre at best.

The manger is very friendly. She was able to reassure my granddaughter that they would take great care with her hair. This is our second visit and we will be back.

The shop is lively and full of laughter. They took me right away and took my hair down and washed and conditioned my hair. Then, braiding was fast and it looks wonderful. I love it.

Got cornrows and they are mediocre. Parts are messy and not clean. Cornrows are thin and uneven. Won't be back.

1. Made appointment at the other location that braider overslept 😡 2. Braider was nice but very slow. 7 1/2 hours for box braids 🤦🏾♀️ 3. Braids nothing like the picture I showed her 4. Charged too much for this.
UPDATE: 11 days later and my braids looked even worse🤦🏾♀️ I called and spoke with Cynthia she was happy that I would give her a chance to braid my hair. Cynthia braided my hair exactly like the picture that was shown and she cut them to the length that I wanted. No Charge. I am pleased ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Thank you

I first came to No.1 Hair Braiding after they messed up my Senegalese twist at Nadine's. They were unraveling and it was too far to go back there to have them fixed. I came here because this shop is down the street from me. Cynthia fixed my twists at no charge, and I had no issues with them after that. So I chose to book with her again a few weeks later when I wanted the same style. This time the quality was good--clean parts and hair tucked! No issues with unraveling. I was also given a discount for booking online. Cynthia is a skilled braider and I will be back!

Thank you #1 Hair Braiding I was little scare about all the revieews because is my first to this shop with my daughters. I made appointement online for 9am. By 9:15 the started. My daughter's and i are very please with the service we received. It took them 3 hours to finish my , i got knotless waist lenght, one of of my daughter got senegalese with the curly hair a took them 3 hours also and the stich 2hours for 10 long stich i think is not bad. Because the shop i usualy go to i took them 6 hours. Girls you have us for life. Thanks. We will be back because since we left the shop is just compliment every where we go to. 100☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆

Try somewhere else! I use to come here often but the service to me has fallen off. My braids box braids were done June 20th, so just a tad over a month ago and they look like 2-3 month old braids, they started looking after just 2 weeks.The parts to my braid are crooked, especially down the middle, so for a week I had my braids in a ponytail so no one would notice & a few braids were cut into. I made an appointment online for 11am, they didn’t call me to sit in a chair until 12, I sat in 2 separate chairs before someone actually started on my hair around 12:30 and then eventually moved to a third. There was also no working restroom so you would have to walk around to Kobes to use theirs. In all I paid $200 for med braids(they don’t look medium, more like smedium), that fall around my waist and like everyone else mentioned they are slow, even with 2 Braiders working on my braids.
During my visit there was another woman in the shop that had about half of her first row done, something was not to her liking, she tried to explain to the Braider and I believe the manager but she ended up requesting the braids be removed and she left.
