I was with an hvac company I trusted for 48 years and that company retired and placed me with First Response H/A in 2023. My heat pump is 8 years old. During my Good Friday, April 2025 spring checkup I was told I need a new unit because the coils were leaking. The FR tech recorded no leaks in August 2024. Friday, FR tech calls his supervisor who came in less than 10 minutes to my house to give me options. He doesn’t even look at the leaks but starts measuring and writes a contract for a whole new unit costing approximately 17k , rebates and discounts brought it down to 13k for new heat pump. Easter Sunday morning I called FR. I said my file docs say Trane will cover the leaks since it’s under 10 years old. They did not say anything about checking my warranty. They said they checked and I wasn’t registered. Oh really? Easter Sunday morning I searched the internet for a Trane representative to explain my warranty. I called Excel HVAC and Bruce, the owner, took my call. I explained my dilemma with my Trane heat pump . His company is an authorized dealer for Trane. Easter Monday Bruce came to my house to check out my unit. The owner came!! He found NO LEAKS. Easter Monday, FR calls me back and say there was a typo and I am registered with Trane. For $1100 they can replace the coils under warranty! Typo? Oh please!! From 17k to 13k to $1100! I cancelled First Response and saved a bundle! Thankfully , Bruce came to my rescue and his truth and honesty will make me Excel’s forever customer. What do I recommend about Excel HVAC? This company has the customers interest at heart, which means attention and exceptional service. I totally recommend this company! MJG
