I’ve been going to Wangui for years. She’s literally the best curly hair stylist / cutter / magic maker in the DC area. Formerly at Fiddleheads salon, she branched out on her own. The location is a bit hard to find: it’s at the Phenix Suites (home of a bunch of independent businesses) within the Ellsworth Place mall, next to the TJ Maxx. So if you look for the address and you walk into a mall, you’re at the right place!

Wangui (pronounced Wan-goy) is hands-down the best curly hair expert in the DMV area. I first met her at Fiddleheads, where the queue to get on her schedule was 3 months deep! During the pandemic, she paused doing hair, left Fiddleheads, and then -- eventually! -- opened up her own shop in Silver Spring. I found her and my curls are happy again. She's super hip, easy to talk to, and such a pro! It's a bit hard to find the salon. It's in Ellsworth Mall and adjacent to the TJMaxx in the Phenix Suites storefront for individual entrepreneurs. I had to call her the first time I came here because I didn't understand where to go
