“Phenomenal Experience! I walked in at 5pm with the hopes of getting my uncle' haircut. I assumed that most barbers deal with appointments only, I took my chances. My uncle has dementia and needed some TLC. The barbers on site were busy but still made time to fit us in for a quick cut. They were friendly, welcoming and most importantly, kind. “Earlier today, I had an 11:30 appointment with Joey that took an unexpected turn. I inquired about the pricing for my service—facial hair only—and was quoted a price. I then asked if this pricing was listed on the website, and when it wasn’t, Joey responded by suggesting, “Maybe this isn’t the place for you.”

That statement was not only surprising, but also deeply offensive. I had previously vetted this barbershop and had a detailed conversation with a staff member before booking and paying for services. I’ve never had an African-American barber speak to me that way, so to hear it from someone who isn’t was both audacious and extremely inappropriate—especially in a space that should be a sanctuary of professionalism and respect.

I chose to leave Joey’s chair. Thankfully, the gentleman in the first chair and his wife stepped in and connected me with Jimbo, who completely turned my experience around. Their kindness and professionalism made all the difference.“
