I would describe Timbers as a pleasant surprise situated in the perpetual strip malls and office complexes of the Elkridge/Columbia area. It doesn't feel like you're playing in Central Maryland, but rather somewhere a bit more remote.
Weekday rate w/balls came to about $85. Not unreasonable, but I wouldn't pay over $100 on the weekend as I could see pace of play being a major issue here. Staff was friendly and threw in a lunch (probably due to aeration.) Conditions were fair, I thought the fairways were in great shape but around the greens need TLC. It has been a few years since I have played this course which used to be a gorgeous course, however, today's experience was terrible. I get the fact that it's July and there has been unusual storms as of late and if the course is taking a beating then at least discount the price for those still willing to play. Terrible tee boxes and fairways not to mention we had sprinklers come on just about every hole on the back 9.
Golf course is in really rough shape fairway to greens, Greens are slow with crabgrass scattered through out. Tee boxes are horrible. This is really a $25-30 course. They also allowed 10 people to play together which took forever until we skipped a hole to get ahead of them. The Marshall is also extremely rude and aggressive - Turned around on the cart path and was barrated for two wheels being on the grass right off the path for 2.5 seconds. The corse has a decent layout and potential but looks to be poorly managed.
