On top of her amazing skills as a barber, she's also such a nice lady and I really enjoy our conversations while getting my haircut. The first time I went to Lily was my first haircut in nearly 5 years. I didn't know exactly what I wanted so I let her do what she thought was best and it was honestly the best haircut I've ever had! She took time to explain what she was doing and stopped multiple times to show me how it was looking to make sure I was happy with everything. I then asked if this pricing was listed on the website, and when it wasn’t, Joey responded by suggesting, “Maybe this isn’t the place for you.”

That statement was not only surprising, but also deeply offensive. I had previously vetted this barbershop and had a detailed conversation with a staff member before booking and paying for services. I’ve never had an African-American barber speak to me that way, so to hear it from someone who isn’t was both audacious and extremely inappropriate—especially in a space that should be a sanctuary of professionalism and respect.
