A year ago we were on the fence about purchasing a 110+-year-old farmhouse, which needed a lot of work but had a great deal of potential. To see if what we wanted to do would fit our budget, we needed a contractor and decided to contact Tim after a recommendation from a friend. He was happy to come out to see the house during a pre-offer inspection and go over our plans to see what was realistic and what was not. He gave us a very thorough estimate within 24 hours and this gave us the confidence that we could actually make the house into the home we wanted. The work Tim, Bud, Jake, Stan, and Margarito did included replacing the roof, installing new flooring, turning a bathroom into a closet, a bedroom into a bathroom, and renovating the kitchen and laundry room. Tim was very upfront with potential costs, and didn’t give us a low ball estimate just to get his foot in the door. He was transparent with budgeting, breaking each task down into the material and labor costs, and providing regular updates as the project moved forward. He and his crew did awesome work with so much attention to detail, and they were all great about communicating with us every step of the way. They listened to all our ideas and used their experience to contribute some great ideas of their own. The ceilings in our parts of our house are pretty low and when they were working on the bedroom to bathroom project, they suggested we could raise the ceiling to improve the master bath (which we did, and it makes a world of difference). When we came up with an idea for a cabinet we wanted under our kitchen dining area, they built exactly what we wanted, including making and installing a custom metal bracket. In the end, the entire project, even including a lot of changes we made along the way, came in very close to Tim’s original estimate which was truly a welcome surprise. We can’t say how highly we recommend Tim Burns Contracting.
