A truly great guitar and bass shop! Wide range of instruments, everything from beginner to boutique. Prices are reasonable. Got to try a few basses you don't often see stocked elsewhere, and all were well setup.
Peter and the rest of the staff are the best. No pressure or BS... just kind and knowledgeable help finding what you need.
Side note: I stopped in here while traveling, bought a bass when I got home. Ordered it on their website, but it was also available on Reverb. Process was easy, including email/phone questions. Shipping was fast. Instrument well packed and in great condition.
Can't recommend this shop more highly!

I first stopped into SSM a couple months back to have my alto sax repaired. Peter and his father worked diligently and patiently to get it working correctly. Several leaky keys, worn pads, and screws needed to be adjusted in the end. Also, my acoustic guitar's action was far too high, and he was able to give me a reasonably priced setup based on the guitar's worth. It hasn't sounded this clean in years. Highly recommend this crew for repairs and appreciate their help!

After much online research for my next great bass, I narrowed it down to Lakland or a Sadowsky. I made the trek the South Shore Music for the first time as they're an authorized Lakland and Sadowsky dealer.

I met with Colin and Peter who shared their expertise and knowledge, answered all my questions, and allowed me try out a number of basses. In the end, a Sadowsky Metroline was the choice and my G.A.S. has expanded by one.

I've only been playing bass for about 50 years and have always tried to make my purchases at the independent music shops due to their expertise and customer service.
