I tried powering it up to copy with USB adapter (this method worked with my previous dead hdd) but it wouldn't power up. Took it to two local computer biz who tried same thing, no results. All local computer biz advertize data recovery but don't do it for worst case scenarios like this. They recommend shipping it to places with a "clean room" to open hdd with costs $200-2000. This was literally the last place I phoned and was surprised to hear he had software that could clone the hdd despite power problems. If that wasn't possible, he had a tabletop "clean room" where he could open the hdd. The cloning appears to have worked perfectly, which I chose to store on an external rather than internal hdd since I wasn't going to boot up from it (but it still had all the Windows operating system data for programs, browser, etc). It's still abit expensive, but I was glad to get it done locally with someone I could meet and talk with directly. Mike's English isn't perfect, but don't let that stop you from employing him. I found him trustworthy, knowledgeable and dedicated to getting the work done perfectly.“

They transferred me to the right people over the phone & connected remotely to fix the problems, then they even checked my device for any other issues & fixed them too! This membership is priceless, & they're located pretty close-in Best Buy at the Holyoke Mall! Thank you so much, Geek Squad saved the day!“
“Would highly recommend ! I brought my son's ps5 in that was dropped and just had purchased, I thought I was out of luck until I brought it in and within few days had it back!“
