They try to help as much as they can. All the fees associated with Excise taxes are state mandated and cannot be removed by the Deputy Collector. They can only be removed by the Collector or Assessor, and then only under very specific circumstances as mandated by state law.

I have had to visit this place more then I want to admit. I can certainly understand all the negativity with the office staff. They can be bit "unpleasant" and sour. Whenever I've gone in and request some sort of receipt they're ok. BUT if I try to ask anything else that's when the ugly daggers come out!...Yes I understand I'm in your office because I have delinquent taxes! Do you think I want to be there if I didn't have to? My taxes are delinquent for a reason!...I HAD A HARDSHIP!..I should be the ugly sour face dagger holder. On a side note Every single time I have run into Mr. Jones, he is a very pleasant, friendly respectful man. ALWAYS!
