My young Aussie and I have taken several obedience classes at Southcoast Dog Training & Care. Each time, my dog Niko has become more engaged, obedient, and eager to please. The "Pop Up" class - Obility - is so much fun. The agility equipment is arranged (differently each time) around the large yard and the dogs (and people) enjoy the challenge and novelty of going over and through all of the jumps, balance boards, and tunnel. Patti and Sandy have been great. Unlike other trainers I've had, they demonstrate exercises with the dogs in the class. This is so much more helpful to observe than the trainers' fully trained dog's demonstration. Sandy and Patti are very observant about the behavior of both the dogs in the class as well as the people handling their dogs. I've learned a lot and Niko loves it. We continue classes for fun and enrichment even though he has a really reliable recall.
Sandy and her staff are absolutely amazing. I brought my black lab to Sandy for his puppy training and level 1 obedience. I love that before we could even sign up for a training class Sandy met with us one on one and took her time understanding exactly what we needed from the class. From there, she was able to direct me to the best class for us. If Sandy’s not teaching the particular class you’re in, she checks in to see if you’re getting what you need from the class. My lab had issues with reactiveness and protectiveness once I got pregnant and Sandy worked with us even after the training session had ended to make sure I would be confident taking him out in public. You can really see how passionate Sandy is about dogs and I’m not just talking about how cute they are. She’s passionate about the dynamics of owning a dog - relationship between owner and dog, safety when taking your dog out in public, family dynamic with dogs, etc. She goes above and beyond all of my expectations. She treats my lab as if he were her own. I just recently brought my lab to the vet for his routine checkup and he exceeded all of my expectations on how well he behaved. I know we’ve put in the work at home, but it was nice to see the results. He was able to sit in the waiting room with other dogs coming and going without reacting at all - no growling, barking, or breaking command. We got multiple compliments from staff and customers about how well he behaved and I owe it all to Sandy! She taught me exactly what I needed to work on with him and how to execute the trainings at home. I recommend Southcoast Dog Training to everyone I know and will continue to do so. 🖤🐾
I have brought both of my dogs to Sandy and her amazing team. We have attended star puppy class, agility, nosework, and trick classes. Classes are fun and a great way to bond with your pup. They are great at individualizing the training you are looking for and for answering questions. As a first time dog owner I feel so much more confident with my pups after learning from Sandy, Patti, and the crew!
