“My daughters go here and I can’t say enough about how much taekwondo has helped them grow. They’ve gained so much confidence and self discipline through the kindness and encouragement that Ms. Janice provides. Classes have also helped them physically, mentally, and medically. Hands down one of the best decisions I’ve ever made for my children’s health and wellness.“

America's Best Defense - Shrewsbury Martial Arts Schools

“I’ve been training at ABD Shrewsbury for about six weeks now, and the experience has been nothing short of exceptional. I started with little to no background, and from the very first class I felt comfortable, supported, and motivated to keep coming back. The instructors are outstanding, highly skilled, supportive, and truly invested in helping you improve. Sensei Sarah and Mr. Jimmy do an incredible job creating a challenging, encouraging, and confidence-building environment. What really stands out is the realistic, practical approach to self-defense that makes every class feel useful and relevant. The workouts are challenging but manageable, even for beginners. I’ve gained a noticeable boost in confidence in a short amount of time. My fellow classmates are also supportive, respectful, and motivating which makes the experience even better. I would absolutely recommend America’s Best Defense to anyone looking to learn real self-defense while getting a great workout.“

“I attended FMAC for years in the past, and I can say that everyone there is very nice and understanding. That said, there are a few key things to know if you’re considering it.

If you’re looking for a place that focuses solely on martial arts for self-defense, this may not be the right fit. FMAC is more family-oriented, as the name suggests. From what I remember, they ran an A/B week schedule. One week is spent on actual techniques—which is fantastic. I still remember many of those techniques today.

However, the other week (B week) focuses on forms, which are kind of like martial arts “dances.” They say this helps improve your moves, but it’s not focused on practical self-defense. I’ve seen many people, including myself, feel frustrated or even leave when they realized the focus wasn’t on constant martial arts training.

FMAC still offers a great environment, but it’s a shell of what it used to be. They used to have a massive location with two studios, a full gym, and a daycare. It was an amazing facility, and in many ways it still is.

In short: if you’re a family looking for a supportive and engaging martial arts environment, this is a great place. But if you’re someone just looking to train strictly for self-defense, it may not be what you’re looking for.“

“This is a great karate school for people of all ages. The teachers are very knowledgeable, friendly, and patient. I started training here over a year ago at age 37 and have enjoyed every class. I have seen my strength and flexibility also improve. There is no wrong age to start martial arts. Whether you're looking to enroll your child or learn as an older adult, Zanshin is a great option. Not only will you be learning an important skill in self defense, but you will be helping your body, relieving stress, and staying young.“

“Master Phil did such a great job with the help of his wife Mary for our sons 5’th birthday party! There were about 15 5-6 year olds and they were fully engaged the whole time! The kids loved it! The chopsticks and fortune cookies were such a great touch! This was such a great place to have a party! So different from all of the jumpy places and arcades!!! Glad we chose to have it here, we were not disappointed!!!“
