“We came to the free sensory haircut event, and it was the best haircut experience our son has had. As both an SLP and a mom, what I appreciated most was how child-led the whole thing was. Chris let our son touch the clippers, look everything over, and wander the shop before anything started. No cape - because our son didn't want one, and that was fine. Chris was calm, respectful, and completely unhurried.
We didn't have to advocate or explain anything. He paid attention to our son, adjusted to him, and set up the experience so it worked. Our son got a haircut with dignity, and it looks great.
Chris also did this for free. Anyone raising a kid with sensory needs knows how much everything costs, and how rarely anyone hands you something without a price attached. He invited us back regularly so haircuts can become familiar rather than rare and high-stakes. That's someone thinking past the appointment.
