“Mount Auburn Cemetery is much more than a cemetery — it feels like a beautiful historic park. There is a visitor center with maps, which I highly recommend getting because the grounds are large and it’s easy to get lost without one. There are also restroom, fountain, pond, and small lakes throughout the property.
The cemetery was established in 1831 and is considered one of the first rural garden cemeteries in the United States. It is filled with beautiful monuments, old trees, winding paths, and fascinating history. One of the highlights is Washington Tower, which offers beautiful views from the top.
It’s a peaceful and beautiful place to walk, explore, and learn about Boston-area history. Definitely worth visiting, especially if you enjoy history, architecture, nature, and unique places.”
