“Wave n’ Pave is the best tattoo studio on the planet, and I couldn’t have asked for a better tattoo artist than Carissa.

To start off, I reached out through their web form and submitted a tattoo design for a ladybug. Ellen was quick to get back to me and accommodate a consultation. She coordinated the whole process between Carissa and me and scheduled an appointment for a week later. I was ecstatic to get such an early appointment.

Then came the day of my appointment, when Carissa and Ellen presented me with an embellished tattoo design. The new design was so much better than what I had envisioned. My initial design was a ladybug emblematic of the metamorphosis that I am slowly going through. Ladybugs are also signs of good luck and prosperity.

Carissa made it even better by adding seeds at the bottom of the design and a lotus at the top, signifying growth through hardship, just as a lotus grows out of the mud. She added a whole new meaning to the design and brought such a wonderful tattoo to life.

She is such a wonderful human being—warm and welcoming. She truly understands the sentiments and inspirations of her clients. I loved talking to her throughout the entire process and learned so much from her. Being an artist and a creative person myself, she was an inspiration to me.

Also, the most important thing: she has the hands of an angel. The whole procedure was smooth and painless. All my friends love the tattoo she designed even more than what I had originally planned.

“I couldn’t recommend Josh Wallis enough. He’s done nine out of my ten tattoos, tattooing me for 16 years. He has always exceeded my expectations and is a dream to collaborate with. I usually have an idea of what I want and he brings it to life. I once told him I wanted a tulip tattoo with absolutely no guidance and he drew up and designed it and it’s BEAUTIFUL. And to note, it was covering a very large scar and you can’t tell it was there.
My latest tattoo is on my spine. I have scoliosis and Josh spent as much time as needed to make sure it was properly placed and looked straight even though my spine is curved.
He’s done several pieces that are extremely personally meaningful and he’s been respectful and honored the vision.
Most of my tattoos are full color and I’ve never had to touch one of them up, because he absolutely packs the ink.
