We adopted two seniors through KDR and had a very good experience. (This is the third time that we have adopted rescues.) I found the dogs on PetFinder, and then went to the KDR website, read the description of their adoption process, and completed their application. They responded in under a week and let me know the next steps, including checking references and a home visit. The dogs' foster dad, Bill, called to interview me and answer my questions. We live outside their usual area and their volunteers could not do an in-person home check, but Kathy agreed to our submitting a video home tour. We’ve adopted doxies twice from KDR without a single hang up. Adoption fees are not as high as many other private rescue groups. These pups are rescued from some horrific situations. Many need a lot of vetting and support before being adopted out. That can be extremely challenging physically and financially. The adoption fees hardly cover some of the vet fees KDR pays for. I’ve not spoken to Kathy, so can’t say anything about her temperament or facilities. We’ve only dealt with her foster families, but that has been a pleasant experience. Yes, the paperwork is tedious. Loved dealing with KDR. Their attention to detail and they try to make sure you get a dog that fits your family and existing pets so you don't have to return a pet makes me appreciate them even more. I am in such love with our new family member and one day would love to help.foster with this group. They know their doxies and their needs.
