On 3/25, after paying a $450 deposit, we were informed that Invisalign could not be done. We were told it would take approximately one month to receive a refund. It is now 5/23, and after multiple attempts to contact accounting and repeated requests for a callback, I have never once received a return call.
My first follow-up call was on 4/8. I was told refunds take around a month to process, and I specifically asked for confirmation on whether the check had been sent, as I was unaware it would be mailed. No one ever called me back.
I called several more times afterward and was repeatedly told that messages were being placed on accounting’s desk, yet I still never received any communication. I also submitted an online request, which went unanswered as well.
This is my first negative review. I’m relatively patient and understanding, but the complete lack of communication and urgency regarding returning a customer’s money is unacceptable. Holding onto $450 for nearly two months with no follow-up or transparency shows a serious lack of care and professionalism.
I do want to add that the hygienist and dentist we worked with were amazing. Unfortunately, the establishment itself lacks communication and compassion when it comes to handling refunds and customer concerns.

Family Dental is amazing and extremely attentive to patient needs. I recently started Invisalign treatment with them and it has been smooth sailing. They have genuinely cared for me during treatment. Couldn’t recommend more.

I saw them for a consultation recently for a broken tooth. I saw Dr Bell and he was amazing. They got me scheduled to come back to fix my teeth the following week. They were very thorough, kind and did an excellent job. I will be returning there for my future dental needs as well. Also, the front office staff was so sweet, from the person at the front desk, to check out!

They called me because I had left a message that I was interested in implants. Made an appointment for that afternoon. Showed up 30 minutes early still no one talked to me about implants for almost 2 hours before I got up and left. Lost my business

Be CAREFUL!! No communication on billing. Paid my bill in full. Got paperwork. Everything. Told I was good to go. Came in for a check up. Told I didn't owe anything that day. Wen it again. No signs of anything. Went in for a routine cleaning 6 months later. I was told out of the blue I owe close to 1000 dollars. The lack of communication was horrible. There were plenty of opportunities to reach out to me so I could prepare and make a plan to get my finances together within the six months since the procedure. Instead I'm blindsided during a routine visit. No bill through mail. No communication. Nothing. What makes me upset the most. I came in twice before this previous visit, and nothing was previously stated. Only today which makes me even more suspicious what exactly the charges are and what they are for.

I’ve been seeing Dr. Peters for my dental care since 2018, and I don’t have enough words to describe how grateful I am for him. Dr. Peters finished a dental job I had started in Puerto Rico, and he has since taken care of all my dental health. If you need dental implants or advanced dental care, I would recommend consulting him. I also see the hygiene team every six months, and I love them! And I cannot forget to mention the rest of the team: front desk, scheduling, accounting, other dental assistants, and doctors. They are all so caring and kind. There hasn't been a day I've visited them, and I haven’t felt like I’m visiting family.

I have had nothing but horrible experiences here, with two separate dentists. I recommend you avoid the entire practice at all costs.
In 2024 I came in to see Dr. Betzing for a routine filling. She said it was a very small cavity and would be no big deal. As soon as the anesthesia wore off later that day, I was in horrible pain. I knew something was not right. I tried to wait a little before going back, hoping it was just sensitivity and would go away, but within a couple weeks the pain became excruciating. I went back to Dr. Betzing twice, told her I was in such extreme pain I couldn’t function, and begged her to investigate and figure out what was going on. She refused to look into it at all. She told me I just needed bite adjustments, which I knew was not the issue because of how bad the pain was. She just kept telling me to take ibuprofen and wait for the bite adjustments to take effect.
I knew there was something more serious going on, so I went elsewhere for a second opinion. The new dentist was immediately able to determine that I had developed pulpitis. He also explicitly told me that I had gotten pulpitis because the filling Dr. Betzing did was placed way too close to the pulp. The pulpitis had also begun to cause an abscess because Dr. Betzing kept putting me off for so long. So, because of her mistake and her insistence on ignoring my pain, I had to spend the next several months and thousands of dollars getting a root canal and a crown, which I would never have needed if not for her. And if I had just kept taking ibuprofen and waited, like she suggested, that abscess could have turned into a life-threatening infection.
In late 2025 I found out that Dr. Betzing had left the practice, so I decided to come back and give them another chance. I never had an issue with Family Dental aside from her so I wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt and assume my prior experience was a fluke. So I scheduled a cleaning with Dr. Bell, who I hadn’t seen before…and it went just as poorly.
He was very rude from the start. When he came into the room, he did not even acknowledge me. He stood there talking to the hygienist about me like I wasn’t even there for the first five minutes. Didn’t say hello, introduce himself, nothing. When he finally did speak to me, he completely dismissed my concerns. I told him I have a crown that’s been bothering me because it doesn’t fit right; he told me he couldn’t do anything about it, without even looking at it first. Then I told him I was worried about the progression of my TMJ, and he did not do an exam, X-rays of the joints, or anything else. He just immediately told me to go see a specialist at UK. I asked if I needed a referral from him to do that, and he said he could make one, but their referral process is annoying, so he wasn’t going to and I should just make the appointment on my own.
Mind you, Family Dental’s own website says that for TMJ complaints they will perform a “thorough clinical assessment” and order “special radiographic imaging and other diagnostic tests” as needed. Not only did Dr. Bell not offer any of this, he wouldn’t even make a referral or offer to schedule me back for another appointment where tests or imaging could be done. If he just didn’t have time at my cleaning I would’ve been okay with scheduling another appointment, but he made it clear he was not going to address it whatsoever. He didn’t care and didn’t consider it his problem.
I am canceling all future appointments and going elsewhere, and I will not ever be back. At this point it is clear that this goes beyond isolated incidents. There is a culture at this practice of not listening to patients, not caring about their problems, and completely dismissing their needs. I wouldn’t bring a stray dog here for dental care.

Dr. Patel is without a doubt the best dentist in Frankfort and surrounding counties. He is doing dentures for me. The whole process has been amazing. Today we had the final check for fitment, color and alignment. I thought they were perfect. Way better than the set I had from another office in Frankfort. However, the nurse and Dr. Patel didn't like them. So what did he do, he is having them fix them to perfection. His supporting staff are absolutely golden also. Ill never take my kids or myself to any other Dentist again. Thank you Dr. Patel and staff for having the pride y'all have in every detail of service you have offered me and my kiddo’s.
