Dr Carlson is an excellent surgeon. I had emergency surgery on my spine. I was one fall away from paralysis. I was fortunate enough to have Dr. Carlson be the surgeon on Call when I was admitted to KU Medical Center. He was very kind, understanding, took his time and answered all my questions. Follow up care has been excellent as well, and I would not hesitate to go to him if I ever need any further work on my spine.
After two spine surgeries and being told the continuing issues were muscle related and nothing more could be done, a friend recommended Dr. Carlson. At my first appointment, he was able to make a diagnosis and recommendation for a life changing surgery to reconstruct my spine. The nine hour surgery was in April. I will never forget looking in the mirror the day after surgery and seeing myself stand straight and tall for the first time in my life. Dr. Carlson and his staff are the best. He is humble and kind and his knowledge and compassion for patients is incredible. I will forever be grateful to Dr. Carlson for giving me a chance to enjoy life.
I was involved in an accident 50 years ago and spent months at the Mayo Clinic and have seen several orthopedic surgeons over the years. Most recently I had a pinched nerve with disc issues causing severe pain and numbness.Even though I knew nothing of what he was showing and describing to me Dr Carlson was patient and described what he needed to do to me and leaving me with hope. After my surgery with Dr Carlson all pain and numbness was gone and I feel like a normal human being after years of misery.I have been seeing orthopedic surgeons for 50 years and he is the best. I wish I would have found him years ago.
