About KU Medical Center
The KU Medical Center is renowned for its exceptional patient care. Reviewers highlight the kindness and understanding of the staff, particularly nurses and nurse practitioners in the emergency room. Doctors have also been praised for their attentiveness and dedication to patient well-being, especially in the cancer center and during rehabilitation. Families have expressed gratitude for the outstanding level of care received at the medical center. Patients have had multiple appointments, numerous tests, and over 20 procedures or surgeries with a variety of specialists, with the doctors, nurses, and specialists saving lives more than once. Visitors have always had a pleasant experience, with friendly and professional staff, including doctors, nurses, and lab technicians. The gift shop even had a nostalgic candy from the patient's teenage years. However, some patients have expressed concerns about the timeliness and responsiveness of the care. One patient struggled to get the necessary testing and treatment for their anemia, feeling that the medical center was not taking their condition seriously enough. The patient has experienced significant weight loss and hospitalization, but felt that the care was not proactive or comprehensive enough to address their severe malnutrition. The patient expressed disappointment and a sense that the medical center has become too large to properly care for individuals.
This is probably for all hospitals. They charge us if we do not cancel an appointment 24 hours prior to. Today I had an appointment at 7:40am at KU that I showed at the required 15 minutes early. At the time my appointment was scheduled for they called me up and asked if I had any other appointments because my appointment was going to be delayed. 20 minutes later when my appointment was due to be over they called me up and said my appointment was cancelled. Nothing other was said other than wanting me to reschedule. I will be contacting them to if I get reimbursed for for waisting my time and gas money. Shouldn't it work both ways for late cancellations?
Maybe KU should hire enough employees to care for patients instead of spending so much money on TV ads! I had an MRI and figuring out where I needed to go because they had no staff was chaos!
My son goes to ku pediatrics and they give such great care. We loved his pediatrician who recently retired, and his current pediatrician Dr. Milburn is so great with kids!! My son is a hyperactive 6 year old so he can be a handful but the staff and doctors are so patient with him (and his million questions lol). Today we went in for a same day sick appt for a suspected asthma flareup and we saw a resident who took great care of him. I wasn’t sure if they would do much but they gave him an inhaler and steroids and we scheduled a follow up appt with his pediatrician. Great experiences from everyone, including the front desk staff. So thankful he could be seen here...read full review
