I have had a outpatient procedure in the local hospital. I was scheduled for another one. I called my insurance company and found out that it was cancelled and expired on a certain date prior to the date. I called the hospital to find out why. After an hour and a half on the phone with several people and calling my doctor's office, someone did cancel it. I was so mad, angry, upset and hurt! I could not believe that some employee would do that. I have been in chronic pain for a very long time. I was looking forward to the appointment for a little bit more relief and someone took it away from me. It is rescheduled for a later date. But now because of this individual, I have to suffer until I get the procedure done. This individual caused me a lot of pain and I have been suffering because of this action.

Thursday November 17 my sister, Vickye Phipps, was at your ER. She was attended to by a young DR whose name I don't know. After several hours and tests he walked into my sisters room and said " you have cancer in your uterus and it has spread. You need a gyno oncologist and your ONLY option Is Dr James in Denver. ONLY OPTION!! His words. We are shocked, devastated. We said aren't there any closer to home, or Amarillo. No he says you must go to Denver we are arranging transportation. I immediately start researching. I find a dr in Amarillo, Dr Kilgore, also a gyno oncologist. I call his office (late afternoon at this point, yes his office says we can accept her. We found Dr told him of Dr Kilgore in Amarillo, we want to go there, planes on the way he says you must go to Denver, we don't want to go to Denver we have no family n Denver. Well he states, you can cancel this flight and we MAY be able to get her accepted there, YOU WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR PAYING FOR TRANSPORTATION. Why we wondered as we are still in shock, why can't we pick our dr? He says we will be delaying her care, we must get her to Denver. Not knowing we have an option, not wanting to delay her care, we say ok. After all the Dr should guide us in the proper direction. We arrive in Denver to find Dr James is leaving on vacation that VERY MORNING. Here we are in Denver a WEEK LATER, still no Dr still no plan still no care. We , the family, are now responsible for finding 5000-10,000 to move her to Amarillo where we wanted her to begin with. Of course we know now insurance would of paid for her to go there. Your ER DR REFUSED TO HELP US get her somewhere WE WANTED HER. Why is that? I find this totally RIDICULOUS AND UNACCEPTABLE. I feel like YOU should find us transportation back to where we started or wanted to go in the first place. HE WALKED MERRILY OUT THE DOOR TO BEGIN HIS VACATION AS OUR MISERY BEGAN. We are hundreds of miles from home, no family near by, no way to get her back home. We will be speaking to an attorney m, we will be filing a formal complaint. Recently my disabled son was in the Dodge city facility. He is in a wheelchair. To use an ADA compliant rest room he was referred to ER. I am amazed and very troubled a health facility does not have a handicap rest room for public access.
