Dr. Joseph Statz is an orthopedic surgeon specializing in total joint replacements of the hip and knee. He performs these procedures using the tissue-sparing direct anterior approach, which is associated with less pain, faster recovery, no postoperative restrictions, and a lower rate of dislocations compared to the traditional posterior approach. Dr. Statz is known for his expertise in complex and revision cases. Highly educated, he graduated summa cum laude from the University of Notre Dame and was in the top 25% of his class at the University of Chicago Medical School. He completed his orthopedic surgery residency at the Mayo Clinic, where he was recognized as the resident with the best clinical knowledge. I was very impressed with Dr. Statz and his staff. He was kind and helpful. Knee surgery is inevitable at some point, but after having 2 other injections elsewhere that didn't help with the pain, he gave me a steroid injection that has helped considerably. I actually look forward to having him perform my knee surgery in the future, when it's time.
Pre op thru post op day of surgery I couldn’t have asked for better care. I felt that they cared about me and that it wasn’t just a job for the team. Had surgery Oct 10th which was a Fri, Mon morning the next week got a call from a gentleman who was obviously making calls to multiple peoples that morning but as did the others, didn’t rush the call, converted with me about how I was doing and didn’t make me feel like, you’re ok, great, bye, had a nice conversation and again made me feel like eventually cared how I was doing.
