I learned: CALL COVALEN FIRST Prompt, efficient and correct (first time ) repair for intermittent alarm on E/one grinder -- pump -- several yeas after Marion County septic tank replacement program ! COVALEN sent out Jordan and partner who quickly finished troubleshooting, pulled the pump for inspection. Suspected "clog" vs pressure switch malfunction. Service call three years ago by different company failed to replace a gasket around pressure switch so air pressure column now was plugged by debris. Wash out with hose, install needed gasket. Cost: basic service charge ($169 )+ $7 ( parts ) === HONEST REPAIR ! Note CALL COVALEN FIRST ...a prominent plumbing company called out first - without even looking their "used car salesman" told me: grinder pumps can only be replaced, "can't" repair them, they only last "5 or 6 years" trying to sell a $6200 replacement. Lied that "it's an internal float valve...", continued to lie "would have to send pump back" to company for "rebuild" Second, I called a sewer / septic company that lists grinder pumps on web site, but really they specialize in pumping out septic tanks. Was told "driver has tools on truck" to do a field repair of grinder pump. Driver says "this is the first one I've ever seen." He did NOT have the 4 foot long socket rod to unlock the grinder pump lid. "I'll have to come back" with an another field tech... CALL Covalen FIRST
We were so happy with them! Nick talked to my husband over the phone for some time after another company was trying to inform us the pump our spetic uses would have to be fully replaced along with other lies and half truths. After talking to Nick in Covalen sales we found out that the pump most of the time could have parts replaced instead of the whole pump. They got us up and working in no time. Nick even answered questions I had even after close thru email since I had to work late. Everyone was very kind, knowledgeable, honest, and helpful. A+ service and support. We will be back when we need a regular service check and if we need maintance later on down the road. I'm going to recommend the company to my neighbors that have the same septic pump as us to to save them the trouble. We went from what another company said would be $5000+ to only spending $700 and having our pump and system served correctly and honestly. I cant recommend them enough right now.
