Today Basement Systems of Indiana just finished installing jacks, and encapsulation of our crawl space. I have to say this was one of the most professional crews, I've ever had working for me, and we bought a house with a lot of other problems. First we met with Cory who was up front with us on what to expect, and what they could and could not do. He gave us the quote to deal with our main issues, which I found very reasonable. He did not try too hard sell us anything. Did we absolutely need the jacks. Yes, we knew our house was over spanned when we bought it and it was getting worse. Did we need the encapsulation, maybe not, but we had studied up on it on our own and decided to go with it. When the crew led by Joe, with Erik, and Melvin came to do the work they kept us informed everything step of the way. If they came up against something that was unexpected (and there always is) they worked with us to deal with it. In the end they even took us on a tour of the crawlspace when it was finished to show us everything that was done. I've never had a company do that before. I was extremely impressed, both with their communication and their work. Our floor was very uneven, you could look at floor and see the dips. Are they completely gone now. No, but again, we didn't expect them to be. We had done our research and knew that to expect a totally even floor was not realistic. But I have to say it is so much better, now and the jacks will keep it from getting worse. And as they were lifting they continually double checked in the house to make sure there were no problems developing. Prior to the work. most of our inside doors would not latch, after the leveling, all but two latch properly, Both of them are ones I had worked on and moved the strike plates on them to a different position. Looking at them now I can see that all I need to do to fix them is move the strike plates back to their original place. All in all, I found Basement Systems of Indiana pleasant to work with, honest, and they did an fantastic job. I needed to have work done on another house I would certainly hire them again.
we just had the basement windows replaced yesterday. four of them. just turned out to be the biggest mistake of my entire life. we just moved here from another state unfamiliar with basements or anything else we told them this when they did our crawl space. they're very well aware we have no knowledge about basements or anything that pertains to them. not one time were we told by anybody, and I do mean anybody, that the entire basement needed to be covered apparently that includes the ceiling because they've got black stuff on it too. not one time did anybody bother to tell me that they don't take any type of measures to help contain or control the dust? dirt? I don't even know what it is. concrete dust I suppose. they cover nothing they Shield nothing they said nothing about this I had no idea. I told them that I needed to get things off my walls and out of the way so that they could have a pathway to get to the window. I still was not told that the entire basement should be cleared out. the guys came down here yesterday went into the basement I asked if everything was okay and if I needed to move anything else if it was in the way. he said oh no everything is fine if we need to move something we'll move it. fine by me. again he said nothing about needing to cover anything. my husband calls this morning and basically we're told that we're stupid and we should have already known this. were those the exact words? no. but what they were is well most of our customers already know this. I mean you're putting windows in a concrete wall. they know it's messy. yes, messy I get. I assumed the mess was going to be on the floor coming down the wall. what I didn't know was that my entire basement even around a corner in a separate room is caked in dust. our online store and all of its inventory is completely caked and covered. our computers are covered keyboards, the mouse, remote controls, tv, Electronics gaming consoles video games, brand new with tags plush, all covered caked. the carpet in my basement looks like it's been bleached. around the corner in another room where the windows aren't even at is completely covered. it's my shipping station. all of my boxes bubble wrap foam tape scissors my Rolo printer all my labels my color laser printer all my paper all my labels everything for everything is absolutely covered and caked in this stuff. after you make a couple of passes through the basement you start breathing it because it's in the air now. it is everywhere. my electrical sockets are covered in it they've got black stuff on my ceiling. they've got black stuff on my shelves. this is absolutely Beyond imaginable. not one single person could tell anybody what was necessary or recommended or required for prepping. not one single person. a painter does not come in your house and just splash paint all over the place they cover everything up. a plumber does not come in your house and leave water all over the place they cover their area first. a mechanic does not get in your car unless the seat and floor is covered in protective covering. nobody comes in your house or in or on your property and makes a filthy mess without either covering it themselves or telling you what needs to be done in preparation for it. nobody does that. never in my life have I ever had any company come on to my property or into my property without first explaining everything that's going to happen and what I need to do in order to prep for them to come. even our roof. and that's not even inside my house. they told me that if there was anything delicate on the walls that I might want to take it down. they told me these things they told me what I needed to do to my driveway and around my yard and inside my home so that it didn't ruin anything. every business in any profession always tells the customer what needs to be done for preparation. plumbing yard work the roof.. anything that is going to be invasive for extensive in any kind of way they always tell yo
