Franciscan Physician Network Hammond Specialty Health Center

The Sisters closed the hospital and it is now in the process of being demolished😞😔

My mother has been admitted to Franciscan Hammond hospital over 5 times since May 2021. Yes, we, her family understand that she has serious health conditions, however, every time she is admitted and released, a new diagnosis is given. Her family had requested to meet with the attending physician to get an overall of her condition and we were told that her primary physician would be better suited to discuss that with us….um no, as he isn’t/wasn’t the doctor(s) attending to her. Whatever attending physician you have at the time of admittance should be able to give the family a general synopsis of what is going on. How do you not find pneumonia, when you had given the patient X-rays? Until she is admitted the second time, within hours of her release from the first stay. Why is it another diagnosis comes up each time she is admitted? Are you not screening for this? I am not claiming to be a medical professional, however one would think that certain test should be ran if a patient is exhibiting symptoms. How do you release a patient that is telling you that she is not well, can’t breathe? I don’t know if the poor communication and care is because this location is closing its doors at the end of August or if this is the normal standard of care from Franciscan Health facilities. Either way, I wouldn’t recommend this hospital to my worst enemy.
