I came in with a large forearm burn and wasn’t prepared with the dressing to maintain the amount of area the burn covered. The area is about 4” x 8” to cover the entire wound. I left with no prescription for any antibiotic. No dressing or ointment and was told to continue what I had been doing. I did leave with 6) 2x3” non stick pads to stack over the wound and two new ace wraps to cover the pads. They did place a square yellow medicated gauze in the center of the wound like a postage stamp on an envelope and didn’t have anything larger. Very disappointed in my visit.
Our experience at the IU Health walk-in clinic was disappointing. We had a 9:40 AM appointment and weren’t brought back until around 10:30. I understand delays happen, but nearly an hour behind for a scheduled appointment felt excessive.
What concerned me more was that basic vitals like height and weight weren’t taken. When I asked about it, I was told, “We don’t do that here.” For a 15-year-old patient, that felt surprising and not in line with what I’d expect as standard practice.
Overall, the visit left us feeling frustrated and questioning the level of care and attention to detail.
Got a same day appointment, went in with a sprained ankle. Got xrays, a brace, and crutches. Got everything I needed within an hour or so. Also got informed on who to call if my ankle doesn't improve.
