I bought a pair of glasses with Big City Optical in Wilmette 3 years ago. Today at during the late afternoon a lense fell out from the frame. Looking at the frame I realized a screw was missing.
I took the glasses in at 4:35 to their Wilmette store and Stella immediately took the glasses a repaired them over the last 20 minutes.
Clearly, I was expecting because it was so late in the day to wait until Monday for the repair. But no, she took the time and fixed immediately.
I also mentioned I needed to purchase some additional lense cleaner. She gave me another bottle for free.
I've made several purchases there including sunglasses and another pair corrective lenses and associated frames.
When you find a business that is customer focus as Big City Optical in Wilmette is, there is no reason to change retailers.
I will buy my next pair of glasses there and recommend you do the same.

The staff and the doctor were exceptional. My 94 year old dad is not an easy patient, but they accommodated him in every way possible to secure an accurate assessment. We will be going back to turn his prescription into new glasses. He didn't have the bandwidth to pick them out today, but he liked what he saw, as did I.

Look, I’m going to be honest with you. My eyes? A complete disaster. We are talking a genetic comedy of errors. But for Dr. Scott Ford and the incredible team at Big City Optical in Wilmette, I’m pretty sure I’d be navigating the world strictly by sound and vibes.I don't have 20/20 vision—not even close. But here is the thing about Dr. Ford: he actually cares. He takes the time. Every single visit, he works his magic to make sure that when I walk out those doors, I am seeing the world just a little bit clearer than when I stumbled in.And the staff? Absolute saints. It is a miracle zone in there. I mean, they didn't just give me phenomenal care; one of their professionals actually sat and babysat my Bearded Collie, SunnyRay, while I was getting my eyes checked. Who does that? That is world-class humanity right there.Honestly? Five stars isn't enough for these guys. They deserve a medal.

I went to another location and I felt rushed, and the prescription didn’t do anything for me, so I came here for a second opinion! Nathan and Stella were both so welcoming and helpful! They got me an appointment THAT DAY! It’s always so hard for me to find lenses that look cute on my big head but they helped me find OPTIONS! Dr. Vo helped me do a recheck and find my prescription in a few minutes and I can finally see again!

I had a great experience with Dr. Knight. He was patient, thorough, and really helpful with all of my questions.
Dairay was also wonderful. She helped me pick out frames and answered all of my questions about contacts and ordering glasses. She made the whole process easy and stress-free.
I highly recommend this place. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable.

We've had nothing but bad experiences with Big City Optical, including after we left for a better eye doc.
I purchased expensive kids' glasses for my son after being told about the $50 cost to replace the frames or lenses. When his glasses broke, I called Big City Optical Wilmette right away, and they said the replacement frames were in stock in their warehouse and would be in in a week.
Since then -- nothing. It's been two weeks. I call every day for status updates and ask for a call back same day each time, as updates are promised every day. I have never received a call back as promised, and this has happened for well over a week.
Other issues we've had -- incorrect prescriptions, the wrong contacts being ordered, surprise exam fees. I would not visit this office unless it were the last one in the state of Illinois.

I ordered new lenses for my frames i previously purchased at Big City on 7/29. i got them put into the frames on 8/23. On 8/26 i went back bc the frames were really loose and the gentleman working said he could not do much adjustment bc the frames would break due to deterioration over the years of wearing. I said i just spent $600 plus on these lenses , why didn't the guy working on 7/29 tell me that these frames were on their last leg ?. His only option was for me to look online to purchase the same frames since they no longer carried them. If that was the case, i would have gotten new frames to begin with. So i do not find this a satisfactory solution. I sent an email but never got a reply so that is why i am writing the review. i have bought two frames, and switched out lenses twice on them at Big City so i expected better service

Our family has been going to the Big City Optical at Plaza Del Lago for several years. Dr. Schrenzel is very friendly, professional and very experienced. I am also amazed by the newer tech equipments they have at the location that made eye exam very efficient and accurate.
