Steve cut down the component storage section and made us a free standing media cabinet. Seamlessly fixed the laminate flooring and walls and added electric for a wall-mounted TV. “If we could give six stars, we would. Our kitchen contractor works with several high end cabinet stores, but he told us that if we really wanted to get exactly what we wanted, we needed to go with a custom cabinet maker (which he said would cost about 10% more), and he recommended John Valentine of Roselle Custom Woodwork. From the beginning, John was a delight to work with. He offered suggestions based on his experience, but he listened carefully to what we wanted and never insisted that his approach was better unless he had good reason to do so. When he came to our place for a final review before committing to a definitive design, a design consultant with whom we have been working joined us and we had a wonderfully collaborative, highly productive brainstorming session. John got started almost as soon as we signed off on the project, was flexible with interim adjustments (which included a visit to his shop when the cabinets were mostly completed), and was done several weeks before our contractors were ready to begin the demolition. (The speed of completion was a bonus that we hadn't even appreciated at the beginning; we have friends who began a kitchen renovation after we did - unfortunately for them they didn't consult with us beforehand - and they won't have their cabinets until November!) “I can't say enough good things about Schreck Kitchens. My wife and I went in with a few questions, looking at options and met Craig. We weren't looking for an entire kitchen of new cabinets but were in need of trying to match some existing cabinets we were reusing and needed just a couple new cabinets for an island we were installing.It didn't matter that we weren't doing the entire kitchen to them, we were treated so wonderfully and the staff was so knowledgeable and professional. Craig helped us every step of the way - answering question after question and never making us feel like a bother. He came by our house - listened to our ideas that we were thinking about and gave us real feedback about what was good, what was bad and why certain things may/may not turn out. He provided us some ideas and things we hadn't considered that worked out wonderfully.In a fun twist - when we tore into the walls of the kitchen during the remodel, we found a paper tacked to the studs - Schreck Kitchens had installed the original cabinets in our home that we were reusing (and adding a few new ones to)! Craig knew the installer as he had just retired recently - but still came in to occasionally help with jobs because he loved doing it. “I’ve been dealing with aslan for quite some time now. They have done every bit of counter top inside and outside of my current and previous house. They recently finished our basement with excellent craftsmanship. They nailed our design and stuck to a pretty strict schedule. Their communication was on point, so was all the people doing the work. Andrzej’s attention to details is second to non, same with his knowledge on the smallest details. You can tell he has been doing this for a very long time. If you are in need/want of new countertops, you have to go see my guy Erik in the showroom in downtown Wheaton. Again he is on point with a plethora of knowledge. Installation is as close to perfect as you can get, with hardly being able to see where seams had to be made. It’s a breath of fresh air dealing with contractors that actually care about their customers, and who take pride in their livelihood. Highly recommend aslan for any of your home construction needs!“
