Buyers beware! This company really let us down. We made the mistake of not checking the Better Business Bureau where we would have found multiple complaints of poor business practices and an owner who was difficult to deal with if you weren't happy with the quality of the work. We made the mistake of trusting the owner Mike to be fair and reasonable. We made the mistake of not signing a contract for work to be done by Save Wood. We wanted our solid oak wood cabinets re-painted for an update look in our kitchen and paid half the total price to begin the process . Weeks later he took off the doors to send to factory for spray paint 5 coats- he had told us 2 coats of primer, 2 coats of paint color we choose and a finishing coat (maybe a sealer?). 3 or 4 weeks went by and then he sent someone to paint all the trim. The quality of this part was a little sloppy. After a few more weeks they were ready to install the newly painted doors. when the owner started putting them back we saw smudges on some, and areas you could see the brown of the oak wood and some cabinets had cracks that weren't there before. When we questioned the owner he said touch up would cover it. But the paint job was not smooth, like it was dusty when they were painted. We told him This was not acceptable work and we wanted to talk about how we could resolve it. He took all the doors that were not installed and left. We tried contacting him by text and phone calls, no response. My husband went to his place of work, no one answered. Weeks later we tried again asking him to please give us our cabinets back and offered to pay for the work he'd done. Still no word. My husband talked to police, to BBB and attorney general of Ill. It did not get our cabinet doors back. He finally responded telling us we could come pick them up and give him a cashiers check for the other half of the payment. In the meantime we found another way to solve our problem to get doors for our cabinets so we did not respond to him. Lesson learned don't have work done in your house with anyone unless you sign a legally binding contract! It was a very stressful, money losing venture and I would not recommend doing business with Save Wood. There are many other reputable companies to deal with that care if you are happy with your investment.
BUYER BEWARE, this company is awful, their workmanship is sub-par, it takes forever to get the project done and communication with the owner is nearly impossible. They work without a contract so you have NO assurance the job will be satisfactory. I just got burned by them with absolutely no recourse. My suggestion is to go to a reputable contractor who has a contract for you to sign. This place is BAD NEWS. The only reason for a 1 star rating was to be able to post this, otherwise I wouldn't give them the time of day.Service: Cabinet painting
I inquired about cabinet refinishing on their website and got an immediate response. Mike came out to my home on 5/9. We figured we would refinish / update our cabinets in oak to match the rest of our home, but he advised us if we were planning on moving in the next 2 years to go with a different color. OK, we took that into consideration and discussed color choices. We never got a bid. I followed up with him again on 5/17 via email asking for a quote and still as of today, 5/24 NO RESPONSE. I guess because we weren't in a rush, he isn't either. Clearly, he's selective about what jobs he takes.
