About Second City Canine Rescue

Second City Canine Rescue is an excellent organization with professional staff, providing top-notch service. Volunteers praise the friendly and helpful environment, while adopters appreciate the smooth process, accurate information, and post-adoption support. The rescue is dedicated to finding forever homes for dogs, ensuring a happy and healthy transition. The facility is clean, open, and airy, making it a special place for dogs and adopters alike. The staff and foster caregivers are caring and helpful, offering great advice throughout the adoption. Adoption events can be frustrating, but the rescue is honest about each dog's behavior and needs. Many dogs, like those with major health issues or fears, find loving homes through SCCR, which carefully vets prospective owners to ensure good matches. The true value of adopting from SCCR lies in saving a homeless dog and experiencing the unconditional love animals give, which cannot be measured in monetary terms.

It's only been 2 weeks since I adopted Capone (Cappy) .Lori and the staff. Were great. I was looking at a few different dogs. And after talking with Lori. Cappy was the best choice. They listen to what i wanted and found me a buddy. They really CARE ABOUT THE DOGS, and want to find the best match. And they did.!!!! I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND THEM.. Talk with them and you'll get a great out come.
Wish I new how to send pictures.
    THANK YOU VERY MUCH.
    Dave and Capone (Cappy).
PS . THE WHOLE STAFF WAS GREAT!!!

The motto of rescuing responsibly is spot on. The puppies live at the center where they are showered with love and all the things puppies need to grow big and strong. The older, not puppies, live in an amazing foster home's and show up at PetSmart on Saturdays in hopes of meeting their forever families.

After losing our pup after 16 years, I didn't know what to do with all of her food and treats and meds! When I walked in, I was greeted and treated very kindly! They were so appreciative of my Lily's donations, and understood the tears in my eyes. 🥹
