Sylvia of Remake Architecture led our project to complete a basement remodel and design a small office space on our second floor. Sylvia was extremely helpful and patient with us during the design phase, offering numerous recommendations to maximize space and ensure its versatility. She was efficient and responsive as we neared construction, working seamlessly with our contractor to make certain drawings were prepared for permits and construction. We had a great experience overall, and would definitely recommend Remake Architecture.
We started working with Sylvia on a consulting basis specifically for the kitchen area because we had some misgivings about our first architects. She greatly helped us improve upon the initial design by really listening to our needs and providing numerous creative options. So, when the opportunity arose to switch architects, we were excited that Sylvia could take over our project. Ours was a somewhat complicated project to renovate our 100+ year old house. It was initially a multi family house that was converted to a single family, and subsequently underwent rather piecemeal renovations that left it lacking in flow and comfort. Sylvia offered a tremendous amount of creativity and expertise, designing an entire floor plan that worked with our family and lifestyle. Throughout the process, we were impressed with her thoroughness and attention to detail. She took very careful measurements, making sure that everything would be to code, and always looked at issues from multiple angles to make sure we had the best design. Sylvia was extremely accommodating, meeting us even outside of typical business hours in order to help us juggle work and kids. We appreciated her attention to green elements, as well as her ability to help us navigate budget in our design choices. For example, she would point out compromises we could make on design elements in order to get similar features without the hefty price tag. Sylvia was an excellent listener and clear communicator, following up with us on a regular basis. If there was ever a topic she wasn’t too familiar with, she would research it and return to us, either with an answer or a referral to the appropriate person. She was also very transparent about her fees, and extremely affordable considering her wealth of knowledge and expertise in her field. We would highly recommend Sylvia for any size project. Working with Sylvia and Remake Architecture was a pleasure.
