Took my 15yrs old to DMV Deerfield today to apply for the instructor permit. Ms. Laura (sorry I don't ask her last name) is very nice and gentle to walk the kid through the process. Treat her as a young adult while at the same time explained all the details on the form to her. We had a very glad experience here today. Thank you.

My second trip of the day to the DMV and my second day in a row to the DMV. You can't check in to the DMV twice in less than 3 hours LOL. Some of this is on me, as I should have known that the DMV was closed on Election Day 2024, even though I checked on google/Yelp. I wasn't the only poor misguided person who assumed wrongly. I then went to the website to try to make an appointment. Why is it that you can only make an appointment for the next day? I checked, doublechecked and triple checked the docs that were needed--I just had a simple address change. (Actually I changed my address online but what good does that do because you have to present docs in person to get a physical real ID/ license?) They wouldn't accept one of my docs (need 2 for real ID) but I said I would just renew my DL (need 1 doc). I pulled up my bank statement but they sent me to Office Depot to print a doc anyway. (Goes to Office Depot) I came back with 2 docs to change my address. So why did it seem like everyone kept entering my updated info and scrutinizing my info (at least more than once). They made me take a vision test LOL. When I guessed wrong they said NO and I kept guessing until I got it right. I spent almost 2 hours here including my excursion to Office Depot.
