I called Solo Eye Care - Michigan Avenue on June 30th, at approximately 2:32 pm, to order replacement contact lenses. I spoke with Carmen who informed me that Solo Eye Care - Michigan Avenue no longer took my insurance. Disappointed, I immediately requested a copy of my medical file so I could begin the search of finding a new eye doctor. Carmen informed me that was not necessary, as I could still go to their two other locations: University Village and Bridgeport. Confused, I didn’t understand how the other two locations could take my insurance and the Michigan Avenue location would not. Carmen informed me informed me that my eye insurance and Solo Eye Care had a "mutual divorce". That didnt sound legitimate, so I immediately called a friend of mine who I refered to Solo Eye Care. We have the same insurance but she revealed that Dr. Bob said our insurance was a slow pay and that it was a business decision to reject our insurance at the Michigan Avenue location only. I immediately called my insurance company for verification. LaMont Lewis informed me that there are only two ways a provider is no longer on the provider list: they failed to re-credential or they opt out. Whatever the situation is at Solo Eye Care - Michigan, their recent business decision sounds very sinister that is cloaked with a hidden agenda.
