I received my first-ever facial today with Beth! While the overall experience was nice, I kept thinking about how valuable it would be for estheticians to embrace accessible communication and a trauma-informed approach. It would have definitely helped me recieve the full benfits of the appointment.
Small adjustments can make a big difference, like sending clients a rundown of what to expect beforehand, giving time to get comfortable with new hands, and giving a heads-up before introducing new sensations (like cold sprays or steam). It can be overwhelming to suddenly switch between hot, cold, steam, and extractions without warning.

Maria is my hair whisperer - never have I ever had color done as good as Maria does it. She's incredibly intelligent and knows EXACTLY the way my hair needs to be highlighted and how and where lighter tones are needed in the under parts of my hair. The sun bleaches my top hair in the summer and it's always so difficult to make it look balanced but Maria gets it. Couldn't be happier! Plus her salon is Aveda and the products are icing on an already delicious cake. Have purchased skin care from a local organic line sold here as well and my face is sooooo happy! Thank you, Maria!!!!
I treated myself to a reflexology appointment with Phiwan. It was easy to book online, and just as easy to reschedule over the phone when I had a conflict with my original appointment time. The salon is very clean and bright. I was greeted right away and only had to sit for a minute before Phiwan came out to grab me. The room was cozy and serene. I felt very comfortable on the table. Phiwan set to work right away and immediately honed in on where my biggest knots and pain were and dug in. It was the perfect amount of pressure and I was able to fully relax. The salon looked great and I enjoyed chatting with the receptionist. I'm interested in trying their other services in the future.
