My family of 4 decided to treat ourselves to pedicures after a particularly long road trip home from Quebec City. We walked in on a Thursday afternoon before the July 4th weekend, and they were able to seat us right away! My husband, our teenaged daughter, our middle-school-aged son with autism, and I were all seated adjacently and immediately served. Hats off to them for staying patient and professional with a customer who went on a racist rant and then allegedly tried to avoid paying altogether. Anyone defending that behavior should be ashamed. Multiple psychotherapists have analyzed the video and suggested it appeared more calculated than a genuine mental health episode.
Either way, if you receive a service, you are expected to pay for it. It’s hard to ignore the fact that the “mental health crisis” conveniently seemed to appear only when it was time to pay the bill—not while receiving the service.
