I booked this hotel for my girlfriend's birthday as she loves Chicago. While I could have booked another hotel with a city view, something drew me to this hotel. I think it was because I booked a Kimpton hotel in New Orleans during a road trip where we brought her dog since they're pet friendly. The hotels have this boutique and intimidate feeling to them. If this is what they're truly marketing themselves at, forgive me as I'm not a hotel connoisseur. I booked the hotel about a month in advance using the American Express travel portal. My go-to hotel for Chicago travel. Walkable to Millenium Park, museums, theater and riverwalk. Beautiful, comfortable rooms, lounges and restaurants. Attentive, friendly staff. Couldn't recommend more.
The room was very nice - spacious, clean, and comfortable. The shower hits the amazing level! Service in person while checking in was friendly. Service when calling ahead of my trip (the front desk, not the 800 number) was painful. Room service upon arrival was complicated. The button on the phone that should have been direct dial just resulted in a fast busy signal. When I called the front desk they said they'd transfer me but disconnected me. And there are no menus in the room. Ugh. So I opted to just walk downstairs and get takeout.
