I worked with Joel Berman and his staff on a renovation of Redtwist Theatre on Bryn Mawr Avenue. This was a large project for a small company. A large portion of the project was funded through a grant from the City of Chicago, so there were a number of additional complications to work through. Joel was with us and guided us through everything, including city grant paperwork, permitting, and contracting the project. Emmaleigh, Joel's associate, was incredibly responsive to all the unique needs of a small performance space and helped us craft a new aesthetic for our company. Joel Berman, and the team at Berman Architecture, are a unique firm that combines a comprehensive knowledge of and experience in their field with an enthusiasm for the process and creativity that is so crucial to helping create impactful design and spaces to develop. Both their technical skill base and Joel's own abilities to incorporate sketches, artistic renderings, and visuals support the long-term vision of a larger scope project. I would strongly recommend this firm, they are excellent partners in the process and a pleasure to work with.

We were embarking on the restoration and re-opening of a blues club. Berman Architecture was my partner's contact, not mine. I had no experience with him. I was mentally set to dislike him. However, in our first meeting, he disrupted my mindset. He was prepared, knowledgeable about the process my partner had asked him to address and had a presentation that was second to none. The entire process of plans, selecting contractors, anticipating issues and moving along at a pace acceptable to us and the city, was seamless.
