Amir is the best. He listens, and suggests, and always nails the execution. And beyond that, he's so likable and easy to chat with. I spent 3 years trying out a dozen barbers before ultimately sticking with Amir. Couldn't be happier

Hair Mechanic is a hidden gem in Wicker Park, located in the back of Amir’s wife’s restaurant. The moment you step inside, you’re greeted by the comforting aromas of home-cooked food before making your way to Amir’s chair.
Amir moved to Chicago from Iraq 35 years ago as a refugee of the Desert Storm war, bringing his barber skills with him. Today, he’s not just a barber—he’s a craftsman and a host. He welcomes you with a warm smile, great conversation, and often a shot of scotch to help you relax.

Great place, satisfying haircuts. Please be on time!Amir cut my hairstyle which is long layers on the top, size 2 on the sides and back. A person cut it for 2 years straight before him, and he was able to get it right from eyesight and word of mouth alone.This longer style is usually a struggle for barbershops in particular, so I'd be that guy going to a salon to get my haircut... In my experience, however, Amir did an outstanding job with this style. Always willing to listen and extrapolate details from how you describe your hairstyle.Thanks
