About American Indian Center
The American Indian Center offers a unique cultural experience, providing a space for Native Americans to gather and preserve their traditions. Visitors can participate in classes, such as beading and sewing, and attend events like drum circles and Pow Wows. The center is a great place for children to learn about and connect with Indigenous culture, and it also offers volunteer opportunities for community involvement. The center opens closer to 10 AM, and it is recommended to call ahead to ensure they are open. When food is available, it is terrific, with popular options like frybread tacos. Events at the center are lively and fun, making it a welcoming place for everyone. The craft fair also features great items, and the atmosphere encourages community connection and participation.
I have been there several times and they were closed. Phone first to be sure they are open. antastic center. Opens closer to 10 AM NOT 9AM. Great friendly people in charge and that attend events here. When they have food it's terrific. Take Brown line to Kimball which is the end of the line. Walk one block North to Ainslie. Center is on SW corner. Albany bank is on corner of Lawrence and Kimball. Thift store one block east of Brown line on Lawrence. Popeye's chicken. Donuts . 24 hour diner. Lotto tickets. Everything close by.
Attended a super-fun sock-hop at the community center here, they were cooking up frybread tacos and a man lead a passionate sermon with dances accompanying. If nothing else, events here are a blast. I am sure social services are comprehensive, but I was only here for a dance.
We're so lucky to live so close to AIC. Very grateful for everyone that works here. They are so nice and welcoming. Our family likes to go to their various events such as Powwows, art shows, & other educational teachings. Thank you AIC for being a BIG part of Albany Park and providing a safe space for our community to connect/learn.
