We discussed a plan for Patches to keep her comfortable and able to eat and drink for a while longer using steroids. That helped. Ultimately, though, Patches no longer wanted to eat and had not drank any water in three days. I made the decision over the weekend that it was time to let her go. This Monday morning, Dr. Rediger made time for me in between her scheduled appointments. I sat on the floor of the exam room with Patches snuggled next to me waiting for her. Dr. Rediger came in and sat down in the floor next to us to administer the two shots necessary to relieve Patches of the agony she was in. I so appreciate the compassion and sensitivity shown to me and Patches by Dr. Rediger and the very sweet receptionist who guided me to the exam room and discreetly took care of the paperwork. It made the heartbreaking circumstance go a little bit easier. Thank you.“
